Drive Sales With Banners, Posters & Signage
by Blair Cariss
All businesses want to get noticed and attract new customers. Let me go one step further. YOUR business NEEDS to get noticed and attract new customers. Large format posters and banners can help you do that. They have great potential to get you more business but only if you do it well.
Banners & Posters
Large format posters can be used by any business. Why have a blank wall when you can tell a potential customer something about your business? Posters are particularly useful for promoting special offers and sales as their cost per unit is really cheap.
Posters are great for indoors and they can also be mounted on the inside of windows so they are seen from the outside. For a more permanent and lasting outdoor option weather proof banners are an often overlooked asset for many businesses.
With large format outdoor banners you really do get bang for your buck. For an initial outlay you get an eye catching, weather proof, permanent advertisement that will last for years! How does that stand up against a social media post that you have to pay to reach your audience with and that will probably be visible only for a couple of seconds. The banner stacks up pretty well we think.
Storefront Signage
Storefront signage is crucial for business in our opinion. Your existing customers need to be able to find you easily or they may get annoyed and go somewhere else. But don't forget about potential clients that might ‘discover’ you as they are driving or walking past. How much business are you losing that you don’t even know about?
I’m going to use Cariss Printing as an example here and tell you what I’ve learnt from my own experiences. So Cariss Printing operates out of a factory in Tullamarine, Melbourne (in case you didn’t know). We are surrounded by other factories with lots of potential work from businesses around us. Originally when we moved in we spent big bucks on getting a back lit illuminated sign on the top of our building. Now we know better that it probably wasn’t the best option. Here’s why:
-
No-one is around at night where Cariss Printing is located so having an illuminated sign is a waste of money. And when a globe blows it costs a fortune to get it replaced.
-
It is up high on our building so whilst it may help existing customers find us if they are looking for us it does nothing to attract new clients.
-
It has our name and logo. That’s it. No way of contacting us or saying what we do.
We’re not finished yet but a couple of simple and inexpensive options have increased our new client foot traffic 10 fold.
-
Core flute signage placed at road level in our most prominent outdoor position on a busy intersection. Highly visible from the street. The Cariss Printing name prominently displayed along with our website.
-
A big red flag banner moving around on the corner with PRINTING and our logo on it. Nice and big and attention grabbing.
We also produced a pull up banner for a business event we attended 2 years ago and now this sits inside our foyer. Another simple and effective way of promoting our business when people do step inside.
