Paper stock choices are endless... so we thought we would summarise a few of the different types for you.

Standard Print Paper Stock:

Uncoated papers

Generally have a rougher more natural finish. You might see uncoated papers in books and low quality catalogues. This paper tends to soak up the ink as it is quite porous.

Coated Papers

They come in gloss and matt finishes. This paper lends itself to the sharp and bright finished product that most business owners and print buyers are looking for. It is best to avoid a gloss finish if you want to be able to write on the finished product.

Envelopes

Plain face, window face, self seal, peel & seal and lick & stick. Come in a range of sizes from DL, DLX, C5, C4, B5 and A3

Specialty Stock:

Recycled Paper

Recycled Papers can range from 100% recycled product to a percentage of recycled product. With 100% recycled paper the fibres are visible in the paper. Whereas 50/50 recycled gives a smoother finish and also helps minimise the cost of the recycled content.

Textured Paper

This paper is where there is texture in a laid pattern and a printed watermark as a shadow in the paper. This can be really effective if you want your audience to ‘feel’ your product rather than just see it.

Metallic Paper

This paper obviously has a metallic look and the stock actually has metal fibres in the paper. A more costly option but great effect.

NCR paper 

NCR = No Carbon Required. Special paper for order, invoice and delivery docket books. Writing transfers onto the duplicate, triplicate or quadruplicate copies.
