Brochure Folding

Paper can literally be folded thousands of ways. When talking to your graphic designer and printer about how your job will be folded into the finished product it is important that you are on the same page – literally.
These are the most common folding techniques and terms your printer and graphic designer will use.

Half Fold

Commonly A3 folded to A4 or A4 folded to A5.

Roll Fold

Where the panels fold in on each other. Each panel, from the outside in must be marginally smaller to allow for the thickness of the paper.

Gate Fold

Two end panels fold inward, then fold again down the centre.

3 Panel Fold

Most common fold for folding A4 down to DL size

Concertina or Z Fold

Panels fold in a bit like an accordion. Otherwise known as a Z fold.
