A Client Spotlight - Lego in Print

The reason I want to talk to you about the ‘Lego man’ is because it is a really ingenious use of forme cutting to create a shape that will automatically grab attention, even amongst a pile ‘junk mail.’ It is linked to what The Lego Education Centre does and it creates the right sort of attention.

When a potential customer sees the ‘Lego man’ It creates a strong “I wonder what this is?” response. So most of the time they will give it the ‘once over.’ Increasing the chances mum and dad see it and say “that looks like something ‘Little Johnnie’ might be interested in.”

In marketing the first thing you need to achieve a response is ATTENTION to your marketing from your target market. If nobody notices your marketing nobody is going to respond – even if everything else is perfect.

Best of all there is every chance that the target market (children) will pick up the printed ‘Lego man’ when it is sitting around the house and ask mum or dad about it – giving an extra chance for a response. The piece is going to garner many more eyeballs and attention than if it was just a plain old 150mm X 100mm printed postcard or flyer. The additional investment is more than offset by the increased response.

From what I’ve seen, uniquely shaped printed materials are more likely to be held on to, meaning clients can be carrying your offer, details for a competition, a new phone number, etc for much longer.

Using Forme Cutting In Your Printing.

Forme Cutting is a specialty print finish that basically uses a die or ‘custom cookie cutter’ to punch out a shape of your choice from your printing stock. You can either have a shape completely cut out (like our little ‘Lego man’ up there) or have it left intact on the sheet so you can push it out.

Forme cuts can be customised to give you whatever shape you like. We also have some standard shapes available that any of our customers can use like the curved corner business cards or a mobile phone forme cut.
